Where are you located?
The Halifax Congregational Church is located on Route 106 in the center of Halifax and at the geographical center of Plymouth County. We are next to the Town Hall with plenty of free parking. (See Contact )
How old is the Halifax Congregational Church?
The church was established in 1734. The present building was built in 1854 and is a traditional New England style Protestant church.
What type of church service do you offer?
Ours is a traditional church service including hymns (Pilgrim Hymnal and Favorite Hymns of Praise), choir anthem and special music, scripture readings, sermon, etc. A children’s moment is also offered after which the children proceed to Sunday School. The worship service begins at 10AM and lasts for approximately one hour. There is fellowship time after the service.
Baptisms are part of the worship service when they occur. Call the church office for more information.
Is child care available?
Child care and church school are offered during the service for nursery through grade 6.
What are your policies regarding the Sacraments and Rites of the Church
What is your policy regarding communion?
Communion is offered during the first service of the month and is offered to all who wish to partake.
What is your policy regarding the use of the church building for weddings, meetings, etc.?
Call the church office for specifics regarding building use.
Is the church handicapped accessible?
Yes. There is a ramp in front of the church. Hearing assistance is also available.
Does the Halifax Congregational Church have any national or regional affiliation?
We are members of the United Church of Christ and its state and local conferences. We also are a member of the Cranberry Council of Churches, an organization of seven local churches that work together on mission projects, ecumenical services and an annual choir festival.
How can I get involved in your church?
There are many opportunities to get involved including serving on committees, playing handbells, singing in the choir, being a lay reader, teaching Sunday School, serving as an usher, etc..
